Eligibilty Requirements

Endorsed Business Proposal

The idea must gain approval from a recognized endorsing body, showing innovation, viability, and scalability.

Financial Stability

Applicants need at least £1,270 in savings to support themselves.

Age Requirement

The applicant must be at least 18 years old.

English Proficiency

A minimum of CEFR Level B2 (IELTS 5.5) is necessary.

Credible Business Plan

A realistic business plan demonstrating market knowledge and competitive understanding is required.

Visa Application Fee

The cost to apply for the UK Innovator Founder Visa varies depending on where you submit your application.

  • Outside the UK: £1,036
  • Inside the UK: £1,292

This fee covers the processing of your application and must be paid at the time of submission. If your visa application is rejected, the fee is non-refundable.

Immigration Health Surcharge

The Immigration Health Surcharge is an additional cost of £624 per year that allows you access to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).

  • This fee must be paid upfront for the duration of your visa.
  • For example, if your visa is valid for 3 years, the total IHS payment will be £1,872.
  • Dependents applying with you, such as a partner or children, must also pay the same IHS fee.

The IHS ensures that you and your family can receive public healthcare during your stay in the UK without extra charges for most services.

  • With the Innovator Founder Visa, you can:
  • - Establish and manage your own business.
    - Engage in other business activities alongside your endorsed venture.
    - Bring your partner and children as dependents.
  • However, you cannot:
  • - Work as a doctor or dentist in training.
    - Be employed as a professional sportsperson or coach.
    - Access public funds or benefits.

After 3 years on this visa, applicants may apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) if they meet the following criteria:

  • The business is registered with Companies House.
  • It is actively trading, sustainable, and growing.
  • You play a significant role in managing and developing the business.
